Originating out of Pittsburgh PA, Norside has quickly become a staple in their thriving music scene since forming in 2021, exciting fans with an original bag of soul-jazz inspired grooves they’ve dubbed Rust Belt Funk. Their debut album, ‘Mean Streets’, features a captivating mix of original compositions that highlights the depth and variety of sound the trio can put forth. Norside’s skilled musicianship shines through on every track, showcasing their deep love for the music and commitment to pushing its boundaries. In their time together, the band has been privileged to share the stage with other incredible acts such as The New Mastersounds, The Bar-Kays, Soul Rebels Brass Band, Chris Cain, Steeltown Horns, Clinton Clegg, and more. The Steeltown Horns are an international touring horn section featuring Reggie Watkins – trombone, Rick Matt – saxophone, and JD Chaisson – trumpet. The group has opened for The Wailers, Rose Royce, The New Mastersounds, John Medesky, The Nth Power and The Commonheart. In addition to spending several years working with New Orleans funk royals Dumpstaphunk, they have performed and shared the stage with Aaron Neville, Eric Krasno, Trombone Shorty, Fred Wesley, Amy Helm, Karl Denson and others. They have performed at many festivals including The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, The Toronto Jazz Festival, The Aruba Jazz Festival, The Peach Festival, The Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival and Jam Cruise 2016. The group will release their first album – 5 Years of Funk – May 26 2023
