About the show:

Experience Vince Guaraldi’s “A Charlie Brown Christmas” in person like you’ve never experienced before. The Pleaktunes Trio makes their debut at the Pittsburgh Winery to bring you their interpretation of the second best-selling jazz album of all time.

Led by pianist/arranger Jacob Pleakis, The Pleaktunes Trio covers a wide variety of material ranging from tight Ray Brown Trio arrangements to instrumental pop.  Backed by bassist Anton DeFade, and drummer Brian Wolfe, the trio also functions as the rhythm section for bands such as Yacht Rocket, The Nowhere Men, Check Your Bucket, and the Anton DeFade Quintet.

About Jacob Pleakis:

Jacob Pleakis is a keyboardist and composer whose music has been heard from coast to coast – Birdland to bowling alleys, theaters to “Teen Mom.” He has written music for films (The Ability Exchange), podcasts (We Hate Movies), and his own Pleaktunes Trio. Jacob has also worked extensively as a sideman, arranger, and copyist.

During his time in NYC, Jacob played and toured with many artists – most notably indie rockers Hurrah! A Bolt of Light!. His trio Bad at Words, formed with longtime friends Doug Drewes and Kenny Shaw, released their debut album “Twenty Years” in 2022.

Jacob has held teaching positions at Emory & Henry College and the Church Street School for Music and Art, and currently serves as music director for Bricolage Production Company’s Midnight Radio Education Program. He holds a M.M. in composition from New York University and a B.M. in jazz performance from Purchase College. Jacob currently lives in Pittsburgh with his wife Dana and their Jack Russell rescue, Myla.
